Although the Crescent Lake and River are frozen and all the bears are fast asleep in their winter dens, Redoubt Mountain Lodge has been busy preparing for an unforgettable 2011 season. Here’s a preview of some additions for 2011 we hope everyone enjoys:
Insulated fish boxes to transport your catch: To alleviate the the hassle of traveling to Alaska with a cooler, RML will be providing insulated fish packing boxes (no extra cost). Not interested in dealing with fish transport at all — simply fill out a card at the lodge and consider it done! An Anchorage based company will process & ship your catch (almost) anywhere.
Fly-Casting Instruction: For those who wish to learn the craft or just improve, 2010 guide Josh Smith will be our Head Casting Instructor. Complimentary lakeside instruction will be provided. Spey-Casting rods will also be available for those intrigued by the art of the “double-hand”.
New Fishery: With the discovery of a clear water tributary branching off the Upper Crescent River, last season anglers were able to sight fish for beautiful Arctic Char & Dolly Varden. More exploration will be taking place in 2011.
Photo Workshops: Photography enthusiasts will be pleased to hear 3 separate professionally led workshops will be held throughout the 2011 season. Hahn Photography will be conducting “Grizzlies and the Alaskan Wilderness” August 3-8. Creative Vision Photography will be hosting “Alaska Brown Bears & Mountain Landscapes” August 8-12. Nick Fucci Photography will be returning for the 4th year of “Alaska Wilderness Experience Photo Safari” September 12-16. Click here for more information
Fishing Forecast: Returning Salmon runs to the Crescent River in 2011 estimate to be very strong. In addition to a great preseason forecast from the Alaska Department of Fish & Game, escapement numbers for the Crescent River in 07’ & 08’ were excellent; this year those fish will be returning home!
In an effort to continually improve the experience at Redoubt Mountain Lodge we enjoy any and all suggestions from guests past and present. Please feel free to send us an email or a message on Facebook. However, for those wanting Alaskan Amber beer taps in each cabin, our apologies…You’ll still have to come to the main lodge!
We are looking forward to another incredible season at Redoubt Mountain Lodge. If you have not yet reserved your dates for the upcoming season…now is the time!
